She explains the whole process of making lotions. It really has good recipes. I just wish I could find a book that includes how to use citric acid and stearic acid as preservatives. I mean amounts and all that. She explains in the book at the beginning that you can use it, but none of her recipes include these ingredients. I really would like to use some kind of preservative. I made a lotion that included aloe vera gel, and it got moldy within 3 weeks of using it. It was disgusting. Even though i sterilized everything and I try to use my clean hands every time I was going to apply it. It got me kind of discouraged to make lotion. For now I'm just using butters for my body, but i find it too greasy for me.

About the Author Tracey Humphreys is an internationally known artist and illustrator based in the UK. She paints watercolours and illustrations for private commission as well as providing original works to the general public. Her love of all things 'guinea pig' related usually is foremost in her artwork. She has been published, as an illustrator, in several horse related books and the British Association of Rodentologists own official guide, as well as being commissioned by several animal charities to provide original illustrations. She also happily donates a large part of her work to guinea pig charities all over the World. Usually commissioned based as a pet portrait watercolour artist, she also contributes and supports the UK's only pet guinea pig magazine. Her work has, for the past 20+ years, been delivered to many wonderful people in many different countries including many States within the USA, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Japan, Australia and of course the UK. After many successful years as an artist and illustrator, it seemed therefore only natural to release some of the many guinea pig themed illustrations and stories that have been created, in the hope that, many more individuals will also appreciate and contribute to the wonderful world of guinea pigs, and, the never ending artistic realms of possibility, still attainable when it comes to using our imaginations.

By Amazon Customer If one is looking for uniqueness and a feel- good book - then look no further - Tracey Humphreys has an incredible talent to enchant both the child and the adult, with her beautiful illustrations. Her writing is superb. Brilliantly written stories with other books composed of rhyme. Everything is written perfectly, not one beat is missed! Overall, Tracey's Artwork Collection shows delightful pictures of guinea pigs in a multitude of situations! Tracey Humphreys work is sublime!

I found this information to be useful and beneficial, especially in this economy, where everyone is looking for ways to cut corners.William Jiang provides the websites in this book, but you will have to do the footwork and research.

A detailed guide to everything cosplay By DianaDiamond65 When it comes to fandom, I'm enthusiastic and I've always wanted to get involved, but I'm admittedly uncreative in the worst way. A lot of my friends are into cosplay and making costumes for events, so I decided to give this a read and see if it sparked something within me to get creative and bring my hobby to the next level.I love that this book covers the fact that being a fan is a passive undertaking, and that the creative portion of cosplaying is a challenge. Especially for someone like me with little imagination about how to make a great costume happen. I enjoyed learning about the history of cosplay as well; its really interesting to see where things began and how that shapes the way we enjoy being ACTIVE fans (as opposed to passive ones) in present-day. All of the photos are a lot of fun to look at; sometime that really gives this ebook the character is needed.What I got this book for—and what I enjoyed the most—was the in-depth information about how to plan a costume from someone who has clearly designed, created, and showcased more than a few. The common mistakes that were discussed were very helpful; things like the time needed, typical costs, and the upheaval that can be caused by subpar quality parts for your costume are all things I desperately needed insight on.I'm pretty good with makeup (my only strong suit when it comes to cosplay) but there are so many great tips for elaborate special FX makeup, such as the use of fake scars and silicone pieces. I loved learning a little bit more that I can implement in my costumes.If you're looking for something that discusses all of the ins and outs of cosplay, creating a costume, and preparing for conventions, this is a really interesting read. It contains so many practical pieces of wisdom that I never would have thought of until I ran into expensive or embarrassing problems.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Your Go To Book on Everything Cosplay By Rose Cosplay – The Beginner’s Masterclass is a super way to learn Cosplay at all levels. I am so impressed with the depth that the authors have gone with each area that they cover here. I thought I had an understanding of it all, but I had no idea all the history, backstory, and the fascinating subcultures that are delved into and explored with an enlightening introduction of all things Cosplay. I really like all the different outfits, wigs and props, but the thing I’m most interested in is making my own outfits and even looking to make stuff for conventions and event work, maybe to sell. The book has idea after fantastic idea for patterns, and a great look at equipment and tools to help you out with all your outfit ideas and extras. Such a great book for all this, but then you get to the chapter on convention survival and you really get the inside scoop, I will be able to double my convention time, maybe even more, with all the helpful tricks and tips that are covered here and I can’t wait.

I think cosplay is very interesting and I've wanted to get into it for some time, but I don't know where to start. This is perfect if you're like me! The book is divided into five parts, for ease of navigation and just general organizational purposes: for example, part one is just on the background of cosplay, part two is on planning, part three covers construction... and so on. I was really amazed with how detailed this book is, and it even covers information on cosplay conventions! There are also plenty of photographs and captions that illustrate the information presented in the book. I also found it to be very easy to read. This book has really given me a sense of where to start when it comes to cosplay, and it is less intimidating now that I've read this book.

With little ones running around it can be hard to keep track of everything and things are constantly piled up in cupboards or thrown under beds. This book is full of great tips about how to organise your home, from top to bottom. I Love the section of "Life Hacks", so clever!Ive noticed such a difference after incorporating these tips into my routine, a must read for any parent!

It reads like a checklist of what to do versus a mentality or methodology of keeping houses de cluttered. I read through this in about 10 minutes which was nice but revealed nothing much than a checklist with a few life hacks along the way. Most of the checklist items are common sense. What I was really hoping to find in here was the motivation to do said checklist items. Perhaps it was misplaced with the rest of my clutter.

The Leavenworth Case (1878), subtitled A Lawyer’s Story, is an American detective novel and the first novel by Anna Katharine Green. Set in New York City, it concerns the murder of a retired merchant, Horatio Leavenworth, in his New York mansion. The novel introduced the detective Ebenezer Gryce, and was influential in the development of the detective novel. In her autobiography, Agatha Christie cited it as an influence on her own fiction. Anna Katharine Green (November 11, 1846 – April 11, 1935) was an American poet and novelist. She was one of the first writers of detective fiction in America and distinguished herself by writing well plotted, legally accurate stories. Green has been called ”the mother of the detective novel.” Green is credited with shaping detective fiction into its classic form, and developing the series detective. Her main character was detective Ebenezer Gryce of the New York Metropolitan Police Force, but in three novels he is assisted by the nosy society spinster Amelia Butterworth, the prototype for Miss Marple, Miss Silver and other creations. She also invented the ‘girl detective’: in the character of Violet Strange, a debutante with a secret life as a sleuth. Indeed, as journalist Kathy Hickman writes, Green ”stamped the mystery genre with the distinctive features that would influence writers from Agatha Christie and Conan Doyle to contemporary authors of suspenseful ”whodunits.” In addition to creating elderly spinster and young female sleuths, Green’s innovative plot devices included dead bodies in libraries, newspaper clippings as ”clews,” the coroner’s inquest, and expert witnesses. Yale Law School once used her books to demonstrate how damaging it can be to rely on circumstantial evidence. Written in 1878, her first book, The Leavenworth Case: A Lawyer’s Story, sparked a debate in the Pennsylvania Senate over whether the book could ”really have been written by a woman.” Green was in some ways a progressive woman for her time—succeeding in a genre dominated by male writers—but she did not approve of many of her feminist contemporaries, and she was opposed to women’s suffrage.

About the Author

Anna K. Green (1846-1935) was born in Brooklyn, New York and was often referred to as ‘The Mother of Detective Fiction’ after the publication of The Leavenworth Case, her first and most successful novel. The daughter of a lawyer, Green attended Ripley Female College in Vermont. Her work inspired a new generation of crime writers, in particular a young woman called Agatha Christie.

One gets nothing.A very juicy secret - especially for the time.A 2nd murder. Unrequited love - the confession of the murderer is great.Strong detectives.Definitely get and well worth your time. A bit longer than many of the stories of the era.

17 of 18 people found the following review helpful. Great Victorian Mystery By PinkIris Great mystery written in Victorian era--this does not read like a modern novel. I assume anyone picking up this book would realize that. But, I never felt like I was "slogging through" or forcing myself to continue to read it as I do with some novels of that era. It held my interest all the way through with the characters and plot (OK, I guessed who did the murder early on, but for some reason I usually do that with most mysteries). Just started reading Anna Katherine Green's books (and there are a lot of them available for free on Kindle :-)), but I look forward to reading the next one and the next one, etc. I will not give away any of the plot but let you know that that it is a murder mystery written mostly from the perspective of a civilian who is working with the police on the matter. Not sure how accurate that would be that the police in that era would have a civilian do a lot of the footwork (and this particular civilian), but you will see many differences between how things are done now and how they were done then. There are a few typos but nothing that you cannot figure out and not that many.

11 of 11 people found the following review helpful. Better than most By robert trainor This is an interesting, well-written book. On the negative side, the plot is too complicated and unrealistic. However, the quality of the prose is far beyond anything I have read in a mystery novel--with the exception, of course, of Poe. This is also a book that is far ahead of its time, and although it was written a hundred and thirty-five years ago and has some outdated language, sentence structure, and punctuation, it is quite modern in terms of plot structure and the method of writing about crime. At times, The Leavenworth Case is so well written that it goes beyond the usual parameters of a mystery novel and can be considered as a novel without genre. It also holds one's attention--I don't often finish a 300 page book in two days. So my four-star rating is not in relation to other mystery novels--it is intended to mean four stars in relation to all novels.
