To say that Stuart Little is one of the best children's books published this year is very modest praise for a writer of his talent." Stuart Little is a 1945 children's novel by E. B. White, his first book for children, and is widely recognized as a classic in children's literature. Stuart Little was illustrated by the subsequently award-winning artist Garth Williams, also his first work for children. It is a realistic fantasy about a talking mouse, Stuart Little, born to human parents in New York City. Stuart Little is no ordinary mouse. Born to a family of humans, he lives in New York City with his family. But when Stuart's best friend goes missing, he's determined to leave home and take an epic journey to find his friend. First we learn of Stuart's birth to a family in New York City and how the family adapts, socially and structurally, to having such a small son. He has an adventure in which he gets caught in a window-blind while exercising; Snowbell, the family cat, then places Stuart's hat and cane outside a rat hole, panicking the family. He was accidentally released by his brother George. Then two chapters describe Stuart's participation in a model sailboat race in Central Park. A bird named Margalo is adopted by the Little family, and Stuart protects her from Snowbell, their malevolent cat. The bird repays his kindness by saving Stuart when he is trapped in a garbage can and shipped out for disposal at sea. Margalo flees when she is warned that one of Snowbell's friends intends to eat her, and Stuart strikes out to find her. A friendly dentist, who is also the owner of the boat Stuart had raced in Central Park, gives him use of a gasoline-powered model car, and Stuart departs to see the country. He works for a while as a substitute teacher and comes to the town of Ames Crossing, where he meets a girl named Harriet Ames who is no taller than he is. Every time i finished spring cleaning, i would find stuff that amounts to junk but i just cant let go. Thanks to this lovely book, i was able to create wonderful things with old things that i love so much and do not have the heart to throw away. It is also a great craft book if you are running out of ideas to keep kids entertained.

The fact it gets the reviews it does really makes me questions Amazon's feedback system. I have no idea how anyone that is serious about leaning how to care for their lawn would give this 5 stars. First off, the title says 32 tips but there are only 15 mostly useless overly generalized ideas in the book. A quick search on the Internet would yield most if not all these tips and probably in more detail. Let me give you a synopsis so you don't waste your money that covers the totality of the information contained in the book:* Mow your lawn to 3" - 4"* Don't use a lot of fertilizer (although it doesn't say what too much is)* Water deeply* Aerate* Leave grass clipping* OK I'm bored now, you get the idea.Don't waste you money.

I didnt know how much of an effect blunt mower blades can have or why my compost wasn't breaking down as fast as it should be.I will never use unnatural pesticide on my lawns again! Full of great information A great looking lawn is the envy of all the neighbours and now my lawns will look the best in the neighbourhood!Thank you for tips so easy to read and packed with great information

The guidebook demonstrates when to fertilize and aerate your lawn, over watering, watering just right, what kind of soil you should have, and how to fix thinning areas. I didn't know you could make different shapes with the blade in your grass. It is very informative and even tells you to look out for insects, and using pesticides. I think anyone could use this guide, to take better care of their lawn.

From the Author As an artist, color is a thing of magic in my life. Color creates shapes, forms, and feelings in the artworks I paint. Love the color and the emotion. I bought her faerie coloring book last year and have been having fun coloring it so I bought this one. The uncolored pages are beautiful to look at. I especially am enamored with the close ups. I always have loved to color them as a kid in my Barbie coloring books. There are lots of them in here. I am an artist (you can see some of my art at http://soulstorage.deviantart.com/gallery/ ) and used techniques I use in my own drawings with many colors and lines. I was very inspired by the uncolored illustrations within. The paper is strong enough for me to be able to use glitter glue on top of my rather aggressive coloring with Prismacolor pencils. What is really cool is that there are 2 of each drawing to color. I have attached 2 pictures. One is the uncolored page and the other is my coloring of it. Make your own masterpiece :)

I tend to get overwhelmed by coloring books that are ridiculously intricate, but not challenged enough with simpler coloring books. This coloring book is truly a happy medium. I love the fact that this coloring book includes two prints of all the pictures, allowing the colorer to make new choices on the same art....very smart. I could even see this being a great feature for a parent and child (or even friends) to color the same picture together. The art itself is beautiful and incredibly fun to color....I mean seriously, who doesn't want to color mystical mermaids with an Art Nouveau vibe? The pages are nice, but probably not thick enough to use marker or light watercolor without removing the page to avoid bleed through. I've only been using color pencils so far and the paper really grabs the pigment, unlike some coloring books I have that end up making the colors much too light. I'm really happy I decided to purchase and I've been coloring in it since I opened it. You're never too old to color! I'm 32 and I find it very meditative and creatively stimulating, especially when you want to do something creative but don't have the time or mindset to create something from scratch.I'd definitely repurchase in the future for myself or as a gift!

In the course of this, we have decided to upgrade some of the systems in the home and try to bring automation into the picture. Author Gerard O'Driscoll's series of books has given us everything we need to know for this process. There is information here for automating the security systems, the lights in our home, and our entertainment system. What I love about these guides is that everything is well-explained and there are options. We can go simple or full-on Jetsons with each phase of the automation. The bonus material on wearables was pretty cool too. Definitely recommend.

It’s actually a pretty complicated process, so it’s nice to have a box set like this to walk you through all the basics. If you follow the guides to safety and security, smart bulbs and lighting control, and smart home entertainment, then you’ll home will run like a well-oiled machine.The most valuable thing for me was learning how to build a multi-zone HDTV distribution system. I never would have been able to figure that out on my own.

But I have wanted to know how to fix install different systems in my home in order to make it more efficient and also easier on me to operate. Each of the books held a different topic that I thought were helpful.The first book discussed security systems. In today's world, you can't be too careful. The author gave me great ideas and places to look into to find ways to keep me and my family safe.The second book discussed how to save money on lighting. Honestly, I want to save energy and of course my funds. The third book discusses how to install different entertainment systems in your home.All of these tips seem very helpful and I can't wait to apply them!

Louisa May Alcott (1832 – 1888) was one of the best authors of her day, but even though she’s remembered primarily for being a late 19th century novelist, she was also a progressive Transcendentalist. Though Alcott is not as well known as writers like Thoreau and Emerson, and she lacked the advocacy work of women like Susan B. Anthony, she used her pen to help push for change on the foremost social issues of the day, including gender equality and abolition. Alcott managed to make semi-autobiographical works popular among audiences of all ages. Her most critically acclaimed work is Little Women, a multi-volume look at life inside her own house in Concord, Massachusetts, with the protagonists modeled after Alcott and her sisters. The series was both breezy but serious, offering a glimpse at the various aspects of life for 19th century women coming of age. One contemporary reviewer called Little Women "the very best of books to reach the hearts of the young of any age from six to sixty.” Alcott also used her experiences serving as a nurse for six weeks during the Civil War at a Union Hospital in Georgetown, after which she compiled her letters to create Hospital Sketches. As Good As 'Little Women' By Wendy Kaplan This is the wonderful story of Rose Campbell, whom we first meet as a sickly and despondent 13-year-old orphan. She is grieving for her recently dead parents, and she tends to get the vapors and other Victorian women's ailments. Nevertheless, this shy, frail and delicate creature is sent to live on the "Aunt Hill" to be raised by six very opinionated aunts.And that's not all. She is also surrounded by seven male cousins, as boisterous and full of life as they come. Rose's initial reaction is to wish herself dead. Barely able to lift her head, she is frightened and overwhelmed by the presence of her mischievous clan. But deep inside, she is secretly envious. The boys get to climb trees and run and play, while Rose, as all young women in her day, is confined to the parlor, constricted by tight corsets and impossible petticoats.Along comes Uncle Mac, the doctor uncle whose view of how to raise girls clashes with his day and time--and all six of his sisters, the formidable aunts. In the character of Doctor Mac, Louisa May Alcott was able to tout her own family's avant garde views on women's health, almost a century ahead of its time. The doctor forbids Rose to wear the constricting corsets, to the horror of all her aunts and the girl herself. He wonders how she can feel healthy when she cannot draw a decent breath? It has the perfect message for any girl of any age: Be yourself, take care of yourself, and nothing and nobody can stop you. In my view, "Eight Cousins" is Alcott's true masterpiece.

50 of 51 people found the following review helpful. A good book to curl up with By A Customer "Rose in Bloom" is one of my favorite books ever. I like it more than any other Louisa May Alcott book, although its predecessor "Eight Cousins" is a sweet story in its own right. I can't find many romances that don't make me blush, but "Rose in Bloom" not only doesn't embarrass me, it makes me feel quite virtuous. ^_^ "Rose in Bloom" is so delightfully Victorian and unabashedly idealistic and romantic. The characters are all quite loveable and the plot, although firmly rooted in its time, resonates even now. The story is incredibly emotionally involving, I cry whenever I read this book -- even at a bus stop once! However, it's not a sad book; it ends very happily. (The scene with the quill pen just makes me need to call up a friend and squeal about the cuteness of it all.) When I find that mere words on a page can make the world seem to light up with happiness and goodness, I know I have found an incredible book. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes wonderful characters, a charming and earnest narrative, and a cute romance.

By A Customer The story of Rose and how she comes of age is certainly idealized, but don't we need more ideals these days? She is rich and rather sheltered, but she faces the same peer pressure, the same temptations with boys, the same problems with friends and romance. Even Charlie's struggle with drinking is as fresh and relevant today as it was then. She also promotes an independent, even feminist, attitude, but without losing sight of the importance of feminine talents and virtues. I didn't discover this book until I was in my 20s, even though I had been a Little Women fan since childhood, but since then I've read "Eight Cousins" and other Alcott classics, and I wouldn't be without them. My daughter is learning to read now, and I can't wait to introduce her to Rose!

While I knew life would be very different after she arrived, I still planned on returning to work and planned on being Mom in the evenings and weekends. I'm a career driven individual and I've been telling myself for weeks that I'll be a good example to my daughter if I continue working and people do this Mom and work thing all the time, it can easily be done by me.In two hours I have a scheduled call with my boss to discuss my return to work after maternity leave. I've been in tears this morning as I watch my beautiful daughter sleep because I will miss out on these moments when I go back to work. And then I read the first story in this book by Lauren Key Burns. I just chose home.

By Rob Natiuk Both my wife and I chose home when our kids were born and after -- she as a piano teacher and organist (gone part of Sundays only), and I as a writer and marketer. So this book to me could also include us small number of blessed fathers who choose home too. A wonderful combination enables both parents to contribute in abundance to their home, and to relieve each other for some time away too!The author provides a good historical perspective on mothers staying home, benefiting their families, communities and our nation. But that doesn't mean women can't pursue their dreams, at least in some respects or occupations. In today's electronic age that is increasingly possible. The author gets into that to potential too.What makes this book so valuable is the 20 mothers who chose home -- their stories, the lessons and principles learned, and the inspiration they provide for all of us. We must not judge those who can't be stay-at-home mothers because of the demands on them. This book offers a balanced perspective to both sides and provides a solid basis on which to make the best decision for ourselves and our families.

I thought I'd take just one more moment to read the first essay. I was hooked. I read the next essay, then the next and the next. One after the other, these stories of moms choosing to stay home with their children drew me in. They were funny, inspired, deeply thoughtful, never judgmental. Years ago, I "chose home" (sort of) when my daughter was born. The "sort of" refers to the bit of university teaching I did a few hours each week. These women's stories affirm that being a mom is intrinsically meaningful--and fun, and tiring, and work, and unbelievably fulfilling.

Disappointing By Russ I The explanations in this book are no more detailed or useful than what you can fin for free on the Internet or in an app. I expected more details and teaching around the questions, not just a a couple sentences which don't really provide enough education. If you want teaching, buy the AARL book. If you just want a minimal explanation of the question, you can skip this book and just use the hamstudy.org flashcards with the simple explanations on the back.

I used Dan's No Nonsense Study Guide for Technician class and passed around Thanksgiving 2015. I decided to get my General about two weeks ago so I purchased this book. After two weeks of studying this guide and taking practice exams at three different sites I aced my exam yesterday. 35 for 35. As soon as I got home I purchased the No Nonsense Study Guide for Amateur Extra. My goal is to have my Extra license within six months of earning my Technician license. This is the easiest way to study. Thanks Dan, KB6NU!

Actually arrl test has lots of questions that are not covered in this book or in online practice exams so if you do know know electronics well you will definitely need other study materials.
