I'm a keen gardener so I found these books incredibly interesting and I have already put to use some of the excellent advice I found within. I didn't know much about straw bale gardening before reading the Straw Bale Gardening book but it is a fascinating subject and is very clearly explained in this book. I feel like I'm an expert on it now!Highly recommended to everyone interested in gardening or those wishing to learn more. And, considering you get two books, this is great value for money too!

Easy to read and follow By Shaune O'Neil These books have lots of interesting little handy hints for gardening in areas without acres and acres of open land. Easy to read and follow. I was looking for some ideas for a couple raised beds that came with the house, and now I have a plan. This set would be good for someone who lives in town, or an apartment with limited room for gardening.

Having now established a base in the East Indies they are now conducting business with their Chinese, comprador dodging both the English and Dutch East Indies monopolies in the area. Once again their privateering skills are called in to action taking on French shipping and the French navy with exciting results.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great Stories but tough to read By Pete Weber I enjoyed both "Privateers and Kings" and "The Privateers Riflemen" and the stories rate 4 stars. Unfortunately, both books were filled with incorrect verb tenses, incorrectly spelled words ( or the incorrect use of similar words with different meanings) redundant words and repetitive or run-on sentences. Because of this, the smooth flow of the story was often lost, making it a tough job to complete the books. I would love to see the series continue, but would hope for better proofreading in the next tale.

Set in 1750's and he has Atlanta (c.1830's" on Chattahoochee river) upriver from Savannah on the Savannah River. missed it by at least 100 miles and on the wrong river.. need to do better research on facts and geography even if historical fiction.

But I was frustrated by all the bad punctuation and misuse of words in the electronic adaptation: "were" instead of "we're', etc. There were proofreading errors on at least every third page. Aren't these electronic adaptations ever proofread???

Milani My boys were really excited when this book arrived in the mail, they are aged 14 and 17. They were a bit disappointed that the "story" was so short, but thought that the designs were fun and immediately made two each.They both said that the designs are probably too complicated for anyone younger than about 12, unless they have origami experience or someone that knows origami helping/guiding them. Still, it is a fun book, with complete instructions and paper to fold. It would make a really fun, different birthday present for a boy!The book includes four pages of basic folding instructions, five story pages (four at the front and one towards the back), twelve designs (six robo-soldiers, five battle accessories, and a space scorpion villain). Difficulty ranges from 2 to 6 stars (out of seven possible). Each of the robo-soldiers has a small data box with ability ratings (power, speed, offensive power, defensive power, and features).Our boys said it would be more fun if there was more of a game suggestion involved so that you could have a "real battle", as suggested in the story.I received this book from the publisher for my honest review.

But I really don't recommend it for a kid under 10 at least. Many steps are too complicated and required a skill to handle very tiny foldings with very three dimensional thinking. It takes to a little longer time than other origamis even as an adult.Also there is not many papers with the book so I strongly recommend to try any robot several times with other papers first then do it with the included papers if you want to fold with the same color paper as shown in the book. Because it's not easy to figure out with pictures, especially at the first time. I doubt if it's really for kids.

This is a cute kit perfect for folders who like origami that includes accessories that start out at 8 steps and then increase to robots that have up to 49 steps. The paper is colored on both sides and perfectly co-ordinate with the projects. Great to take on the go.

Color Me Botanicals III- An Adult Coloring Book, by Carol Elizabeth Mennig

About the Author Carol Mennig discovered her love of botanical art during her years as co-owner of two successful upscale antiques businesses in Connecticut. She acquired antique botanical books and prints whenever she could find them and kept up her interest when she semi-retired to Florida in 2001. She became involved in web and graphic design and created websites for businesses throughout the country and in the UK. She now concentrates solely on botanical art - both antique and her own. In 2010 she started creating her own colorful botanical art with inspiration from early artists such as Georgius Dionysius Ehret (1750), Pierre Bulliard (1776), Carrington Bowles (1777), John Edwards (1775), John Lindley (1829), Redoute (1802), Curtis (1787-1830) and others. To date she has created over 100 designs that are sold online and in select stores as framed prints and imprints on canvas. She has published several botanical design books which are available on Amazon and is the creator of Color Me Botanicals - An Adult Botanical coloring book Group. I SIMPSON As a recent purchaser of a Kindle, I naturally wanted some content, but felt somewhat bewhildered by the vast range of pricing--from free to relatively expensive--for what appeared to be identical works. In order to test the "free" works, I decided to download Algernon Blackwood's short novel, "The Willows," fully cognizant of the old adage that one gets what one pays for.Well, the edition here is superb. No misspellings or misplaced punctuation that I saw; the only flaws were a handful of missing paragraph indentations, and they did not interfere with the flow of the story. I heartily commend those who took the time to transcribe this story for their excellent work.As for the story itself, it remains a very unnerving read. Like Lovecraft, Blackwood spends most of the time building up a near palpable atmosphere of dread, with only a few fitful sightings to give shape to that dread. "The Willows" remains one of his best tales, and this edition is highly recommended.

Lovecraft inherited the mantle of E.A. Poe. Blackwood writes of the woodland spirits, his story "The WIllows" is haunting and beautifully written and conceived, ghostly and enigmatic in tone. His story of "THe Wendigo" about the Canadian "bigfoot" is rendered in realistic prose yet there is an aura of myth shot throughout. Blackwood does not summon demons and conjure cosmic wrolds like Lovecraft. Rather, Blackwood is the Thoreau of Horror, summoning the natural world and its beauty and power and hidden forces, creating a world steeped in reality and myth at once. Amazing writing and superb storytelling make A.B. a real treasure not to missed for all fans of horror fiction.

Heins This is a wonderful horror story--the tale of two men travelling through Europe (down the Danube River, then the Carpathian mountains). When they pass ancient forests and peasants who warn them to beware of the little-inhabited regions, they attribute their warnings to ancient superstition and continue. Blackwood's old fashioned writing style is a bit H.P. Lovecraftian, such as this phrase, "I searched everywhere for a proof of reality, when all the while I understood quite well that the standard of reality had changed."

I want something easy to get into for a quick color session, but also complex enough to hold my attention. This is both of those!I love that each doodle has its own front and back page, there is nothing on the back of any of the sheets, so you can use markers and watercolor, like I did, without picking your favorite and sacrificing one of the pictures.I received it free to review, but check out this water color I started while my kid was snoozing!

It contains 50 floral coloring pages, that are very detailed. The design on the coloring book indicates that colored pencils would be the best coloring option, although a high end set of colored pencils is not necessary. I ended up using a children's set of coloring pencils and they have worked great. The designs are on one page of each piece of paper, and not on the back of any, which makes them easier to color.I think any adult can benefit from the relaxation of coloring, just like any child probably can as well. These designs were great to color when I found quietness in my environment and also when I wanted to listen to a TV show in the background without looking up at it as much. I do feel like coloring the designs in this book relaxed me. They also inspired me to pay attention to flowers more, and wonder what beautiful patterns can be made from them. The designs turn out really beautiful when different colors are added.I received this free in exchange for an honest and unbiased review

The main problem for adults and coloring (or at least for me)is that the books available are all goofy cartoons that aren't all that challenging or interesting. This book has allowed me to break out my colored pencils and go to town on tons of fun designs that my five year old would never have managed. Each paragraph is a howl or chuckle. Quite a work of genius. And the level of insight relevant today is remarkable. 1809 is not dated in the hands of one like this.

Admittedly naive and suffused with guilt, the well-off white author offers snapshots from cities such as Chicago and Oakland, as well as from his own backyard of mostly white Bangor, Maine. His heart is surely in the right place, as he describes troubled lives burdened by lack of skills and by governmental neglect. Davis even posed as a homeless man for a week in California, discovering that people who gave him advice on services for the needy were "astonishingly misinformed." His conclusion: business and government must do more to help the underclass, and we must revamp welfare and develop a more flexible view of "workfare," given that the very poor lack skills. Moving and masterful By A Customer Peter Davis has written a moving but sad chronicle of the terrible problem of poverty in the US.The National School Lunch program was started at the beginning of WWII because a significant number of recruits were found to be suffering from the effects of malnutrition. Do we need to have another war before we address the problems of the poor of the present day? Newt Gingrich and his buddies need to read this book.

I don't recall a male main character in a horse series since Kit Ehrman's Steve Cline. Simon's "voice" rang true, not only about his riding and relationship with horses, but navigating the late teen years of a boy who knows he is different in so many ways.Being a working student for a trainer is a lot of drudge work and with a less capable writer the story could easily have become bogged down in the minutiae of daily chores. Yet the year rolled right along with lessons learned about horses, people, relationships and life.The twist at the end was the only piece of fiction that felt a bit deus en machina but hey it could happen.Over all I enjoyed Fortune's Fool very much and read it pretty much straight through, which doesn't happen often enough with the books I've read lately.

It does a good job of nicely combining tons of information about riding and equestrian competitions with an engaging plot with complex, well-developed, interesting characters. Ms. Pagones does a particularly good job of evoking the landscape and environment in which her story is set. It is a sequel to "The Horse Is Never Wrong," which was also extremely well done - but the two books can easily stand on their own. While labelled as "young adult," it is also mature enough to satisfy an adult reader. To the commentors who noted - some negatively - that the lead is a young gay man, his sexual orientation is simply another facet of his personality and handled beautifully. (Parents, there are some make-out scenes and implicit, not explicit, sexual content. As a mother of a 12 year old, nothing that I would feel uncomfortable having a young teenager read). It's nicely set up for a sequel or more in a series. Ms. Pagones has created a vivid set of characters and I look forward to hearing about all of their future adventures.

A Horse Story That's a Little Different By H/J Girl Finally a horse novel where the talented, just-scraping-by working student doesn't dream of making it to the Olympics! In fact, Simon states in the beginning of the book that he'll just be happy if he can carve out a decent life for himself that involves working with horses.Even though he's clearly very intelligent, he's never been focused in school and forgoes college to work for an old school eventing trainer. This book is refreshingly not full of many of the cliches that seem to go hand-in-hand with horse books. Simon doesn't win everything there is to win, he actually has to work hard, and he also has to grapple with the fact that he's gay.While it may be easier to be gay in the horse world than in other industries, Simon still has a lot to figure out regarding his sexual identity, especially when he finds himself falling in love with an older vet. Their relationship is a big part of the book. I'll admit I hadn't ever read a book focused on a gay relationship and I found it interesting. Pagones does a good job sharing details and getting at emotions but keeping things at a level that won't alienate heterosexual readers.Simon's voice is authentic and strong--one of the highlights of the book. The characters are all realistic, not cardboard cut-outs. If you're looking for something a little different than the usual, give it a read.

There are endless activities for all ability levels. Some ideas I had seen before but others were completely new and refreshing. It is nice to have a bound book that I can go to when I need a quick activity for my young children.

About the Author

Elizabeth Millard is the author of Indoor Kitchen Gardening, which focuses on practical tips for growing herbs, vegetables, and fruits in indoor settings. She and her partner, Karla Pankow, also own Bossy Acres, a 100-member community supported agriculture farm in Minnesota that provides seasonal produce to members and area restaurants in an effort to build a strong and sustainable local food system. Millard often leads workshops on vegetable and herb gardening as well as herb preparation, fermentation, and cooking with seasonal ingredients. As editor of local sustainable food site Simple Good and Tasty, she encourages readers to connect with the state’s abundance of organic growers, ranchers, food artisans, nonprofit agencies, and each other, forging a stronger food landscape. In addition to farming, teaching, and editing, she has contributed articles to Hobby Farm Home, Experience Life, and Urban Farm magazines, along with many other publications. The only book you will ever need on growing and cultivating your own Backyard Pharmacy. I am a true believer we are what we eat. Organically grown herbs are not just a part of eating healthy, they are an ESSENTIAL part. I want my culinary dishes to burst with flavor and herbs do just that! The author, Elizabeth Millard, has vast experience as a grower. She is an organic farmer, so who better than to receive advice from? She is it!! I love how this author recommends we forge a stronger food landscape. I couldn't agree more. Growing herbs for medicinal purposes is vital for improving health. By Steve 1967 When it comes to working in my yard, I'm more of a landscaper than I am a gardener, but have always wanted to add edibles to my efforts. This book piqued my curiosity because I honestly never thought there could be any other benefits from the vegetables other than eating them (and the benefits from that)! There's a lot of great info, plenty of photos, too, which bodes well for this novice's efforts. Lot's here, but not overwhelming.

It was a great fun for him and he enjoyed it a lot and told me how awesome this book is and that everyone should read it. This book is well written, easy to read and gives you other experience and this experience is a unique one. It inspired him to play Minecraft a better way. I am very happy that he enjoyed this nice Minecraft book.

This book contains all the recipes existing in Minecraft! My son loves minecraft and told me that he learned a lot from this book. I'm excited about this book & Can't wait for the next book to be released by Game_Guru! I highly recommend it for any child who loves minecraft!
