Middle son Davy White planned to winter in his pa's secluded cabin alone. Instead, he arrives in the midst of a blizzard to find the cabin occupied - by a young widow. One who is expecting a baby any day.

Widowed, pregnant, and alone, Rose Evans found the cabin an isolated prison. With winter snows on the way and no animal to ride, the city girl was too frightened to leave. Now she's trapped with a cowboy, one who threatens her self-made promise never to trust a man again.

As Davy teaches her to take care of herself and her new baby, Rose discovers the quiet cowboy is nothing like the men she's known before. But she's been hurt in the past...does she dare open her heart?

An Enjoyable Read that has the Lovable White Family again By Amazon Customer “The Convenient Cowboy” by Lacy Williams is the latest book in her 'Wyoming Legacy' series but never fear this is a stand alone book. This is Davy's story and man I love the White's with all that happens to them. Here is a story of overcoming, though it might not be noticeable right off the bat, but that is what I think of the story anyway. Overcoming the hurt of being left behind. Overcoming the hurt from the past. Overcoming the hurt of being alone. And finally overcoming the hurt of the uncertainties of the present. Each thing that is overcome is small by itself, but when they are all put together the way they are, it is just something that is really beautiful.Davy is a man who is determined to have everything ready for his brothers return, regardless what his family thinks about his plans, though he wants their approval. Then when he is faced with all those plans being changed on him, he can face those changes one of two ways, and it is how he acts that shows so much more about his character. He feels deeply but he has this ability to cover those up, not exactly by hiding them but just not by showing them. I know that sounds like an oxymoron but really understand Davy White one is just going to have to read this book.Rose is a woman who has not had the easiest of lives up to this point. When she is found she has been struggling to do what she had to do with what was around her. Actually the more this reader got to know Rose the more I saw a deep strength that I don't even think she realized that she had. She is determined to do everything she can to help out and pull her share, but not so stubborn that she can't see what is best for her and her child. This is also a story of fighting to a better tomorrow. It seems as if both Davy and Rose are fighting in completely different ways. One is fighting for the tomorrow that has been planned while the other is fighting just for tomorrow. With the way they are fighting at times it seems almost as if they are fighting together then there are times when they are fighting separately. Now I don't mean that they are fighting with words against each other, but they are taking all they can to fight inner and outer forces that are working against them. This a wonderful story that I hope all who read it enjoy it greatly like I did.

I agreed with Penny when it came to Rose By Jordan Mikena I could tell you what this book is about, but it is exactly what it says it is in the summary. Anything else would be to risk my posting spoilers to this very basic story. It is very much a "what you see is what you get" plot line. Excluding the somewhat icky female main character, this was a decent book. The writing was fine and I appreciated that there was no overt sexual or violent content. The story flowed well without it so I added another star to my review in gratitude. Here's the one negative. I found myself wanting to spend a lot more time with the extended family rather than stuck in the cabin with Rose. I found her to be needy, jealous and judgmental of everyone else that so fully and completely welcomed her into their world. Just out of curiosity, why wouldn't you share the naming of a baby? "What are you going to name her?" I dunno...she really, really needed to grow up. One would think that this would improve as the story progressed, at least I had hoped it would. But as I read the epilogue I found that yes, she was by far the least developed character in the story . Just as a side note, I agreed with Penny when it came to Rose. There was nothing harsh about it. It was VERY reasonable and Rose proved that herself. (This will only make sense after reading the book).I recommend this book as a stepping stone to the series, but only if Rose falls away into the background of this most warm and interesting extended family unit.

He has invested in some cattle who’ll need care through the winter in order to be saleable when spring comes. He leaves behind the man who adopted him and his wife, and his very large family of many brothers and sisters. Davy has packed the rest of the supplies that must be carried up the mountain to get him through the winter. He arrives to find the line shack already occupied, and not by the brother he hatched this plan with who has gone missing. He finds a very pregnant, newly widowed woman, Rose. Her husband had died suddenly on the mountain and left her without any supplies, transportation, or the means to protect herself from man or beast.Davy started life as a disadvantaged child who adapted well to his new adoptive family and has grown to be a well-adjusted, hard-working man of faith. When he finds Rose, we learn that she is a damaged woman. She has lost her mother and father. She was forced by her stepmother to marry a man she didn’t know well and didn’t love. As the story unfolds we see the damage her past has caused her, and how it interferes with her ability to return Davy’s feelings. They travel down the mountain to have a small wedding attended by his extended family, of whom some feel the marriage to be a mistake. She is welcomed into this large, loving family, but she is damaged by never having had a normal family life and doesn’t believe they can really accept her as Davy’s wife. Her first husband had abused her verbally and possibly physically. As a result she is always thinking that Davy will be mad when she has mishaps with the cooking. The longer he goes without yelling at her and making her feel stupid, the more she grows to care for him. They are alone in the shack on the mountain trapped by a blizzard when Rose delivers her baby. She has only Davy to attend to her. His deep caring for her has led him to love her and her baby, too. She eventually realizes what a good man she married and her feelings for him grow.I gave this review an extra star for its availability as an audible book which is how I enjoyed it.
