Knit items on cover of crochet book (and messed up instructions in the book) By Mom2Twins Any time the picture on the cover of an book is of knit items but the title says the book contains crochet patterns, I have a feeling the patterns do not belong to the author.I recognized Doris Chan's Shimmer Skirt or Poncho immediately (available for free on the Red Heart site). I am sure that if I did a reverse google search on the images, I would find all of the patterns in this book for free online as well.The patterns have been butchered, I am guessing in an attempt to "rephrase" them, which DOES NOT mean copyright hasn't been violated. For example, in one pattern, the author says to use a 3mm hook which equals a proportion of 10 times 10 (10x10). Um, I would need to see the original pattern, but I am betting this was taken from the gauge information but since the author doesn't know how to crochet (as evidenced by the knit booties and blanket on the cover), she didn't know what this really meant. There are other examples in each pattern in this book.Respect the real designers and don't get this book.
